Inspired by the Old Masters of painting, Robert Dale Williams sought out rigorous training at the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative Art, following a curriculum modeled after 19th Century Parisian ateliers.  Upon completing studies towards an MFA with a concentration in painting in 2004, Williams continued his studies under the internationally recognized Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum.  His work, at times a commentary on the dark, violent nature of humanity, is featured in a joint publication by the School of Nerdrum and the Florence Academy of Art entitled Immortal Works, and Odd Nerdrum’s recent hardcover release Kitsch: More Than Art. Since 2004, Williams has lectured and instructed drawing and painting courses at universities and art centers, and has contributed feature articles on oil painting techniques to International Artist Magazine.  The first monograph collecting early career works by Robert Dale Williams, Discovery, was released in 2009.

Featured in collections worldwide, Williams has exhibited in New York, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, and Norway.
